Discovery of Blogging

A while ago I had a sudden urge to create something on the Internet, like a website or reference guide or something, but I wasn't sure what I wanted to create or do, and to be honest I'm still not sure, I'm just plodding around I guess until that idea pops into my head, which could be well after your time, possibly after mine too. Never the less, I still spent time browsing the Internet and reading up on everything I could find to help me learn the beginner basics of creating your own website. And as I'm sure you will all agree, its always an added bonus if you can do it for free.. I love my bargains and appreciate a free-bee. So I spent many-a-hours searching and testing and getting more and more disappointed with every miss-leading scam like website hosts I came across, which was a fair few at that. They all seemed to advertise this that and the other at a 100% guaranteed price of Nothing, Nada, Zilch, Zip and Zero. Which was completely true, if by free they mean a monthly description to a sister company or a set contract for x amount over x months for something that was completely irrelevant to your initial intention before you even stumbled across this cunning and crafty money making scheme.

Don't get me wrong, there are free hosting companies available out there but personally I didn't find one that would suite my personal skill level and understanding of computer jargon, which was nothing at all to begin with, I'm slowly starting to soak up the basics now, and its turning out to be a lot simpler then how it looks. As for me, its the jargon (names for each given meaning) that I find to be the most confusing aspect, it really takes me some time to understand the simplest instructions, just because of the terminology used to describe it. Which is what a lot of these discovered hosting sites used, which is not ideal for Newbies. I eventually decided to just find the cheapest jargon free host I could find and just pay as little ad possible, just to stop the constant searching around the net for something that does not meet my needs or expectations. In the end I decided to use the cheapest company I could find, one that I had actually come across when I first start this charade called Super Green Hosting which is the cheapest one I could find offering jargon free instructions and videos which are step by step guidance notes for dummies, which fits my needs perfectly. I have loads to learn though as I never knew you could do so many things on the Internet, with the just over two pounds I 4 pounds I pay, I get unlimited web space and same for uploading and bandwidth, plus I get access to absolutely everything you could imagine to do with website development, including just a brush of the tip: Apache, Pear, php, perl, mySQL, CGI, FTP, SSL, Templates to create blog sites, websites, pages, unlimited personal email account (which your in charge of), a program called fantastico which gives you an amount of programs I can't even start to list, and more and more, it just goes on and on top there is 24/7 customer support who are so friendly and helpful, I know as I use them A LOT,... and they always reply within about half an hour. Plus I'm helping the planet as it is a Green company which use natures natural elements to cut down on Carbon Footprints created by computers, do you know how much CO2 we create just by doing every day activities we take for granted? Anyway I will talk bout that in another post cuz i know I'm rambling again but that's just because I'm kinda excited about the fact I have found something that is actually what I was hoping for, that ticks every box and more and something that I would like to share with you guys as I learn about over time. So yeah in the end I ended up kicking the free-bee idea in the head as the amount of money it was costing to pay for the electricity bills whilst searching for hours, even days upon end, could have funded a couple months subscription to a web host, and funded NASA space exploration to the moon. So the reason why I started writing this post to begin with actually had just a small amount of words in order to get say what I wanted to say. Which was along the lines of:

I never looked into what a blog was until after I had bought some web space to create and publish my own website. Now that I have discovered what you can do with a blog, I realise that I didn't actually need to buy anything to begin with and if I had looked into blogging beforehand, I would have saved many stressful hours of web searching. Good job I'm paying next to nothing and there is no contract so I can cancel at any time. But glad I didn't discover blogging first cuz I am learning loads and when I decide what my site will include and its up and running, its mine to keep. So nothing lost but something gained. Worked out well in the end. The End.
